About GoGoSafari
GoGoSafari is the latest art sculpture trail coming to Norwich and parts of Norfolk this summmer and will see lions, elephants, rhinos, giraffes and gorillas stampede their way into the county.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses in sponsoring a sculpture and the talent of local and national artists, each of the 51 large sculptures have been brought to life and turned into unique works of art.
Trotting alongside, there are 64 Mini Gs, smaller giraffe sculptures designed by local schools and community groups, waiting to be found in venues across the city as part of the trails Learning & Community Programme, sponsored by The Forum.
GoGoSafari is delivered by regional charity Break, in partnership with Wild in Art and Zoological Society of East Anglia, along with Norwich BID and Chantry Place.
It's the seventh trail the charity has delivered and follows on from the charity’s other successful trails:
- GoGoGorillas in 2013
- GoGoDragons in 2015
- GoGoHares in 2018
- GoGoDiscover in 2021/22
- As well as Cows about Cambridge in 2021, and Cambridge Standing Tall in 2024.
Norwich and Norfolk have shown incredible love for previous trails, and we wanted to create something extra special this time. While most trails focus on a single animal, we thought why not take you on a safari?
Each anima reflects the life changing work Break does with young people in, around and leaving care.
-
Elephant – Symbolising wisdom, the elephant represents our dedicated volunteer mentors who help young people feel safe and begin to build trusting relationships.
-
Giraffe – Standing tall for care leavers, the giraffe embodies the opportunities and lifelong support we offer to help them reach new heights.
-
Gorilla – With its strong sense of family, the gorilla shines a spotlight on our amazing fostering families who open their hearts and homes.
-
Lion – Roaring with pride, the lion represents the strength and unity we bring to children and young people in our homes, ensuring they feel supported and empowered.
-
Rhino – Reflecting inner resilience, the rhino stands for the strength of our young people, nurtured through our therapeutic services to help them face life with confidence.

GoGoSafari is raising money to support Break, a charity that believes no young person should feel alone in the world—and works every day to make sure they don’t.
Break walks alongside children and young people in, around, and leaving care, offering support through fostering, residential homes, mentoring, wellbeing services, and leaving care support. It’s not just about providing help—it’s about offering lifelong care, love, and ambition, so young people can grow beyond what they ever thought possible.
Funds raised through the trail help create safe, stable, and nurturing environments, and go directly towards:
-
Making a house a home
-
Access to mentors and wellbeing support
-
Skills training and work experience
-
Support as young people move into independence
Every donation helps Break continue to care differently—and change young lives for the better.
Back in March 2024 we put an open call out where we invite artists to submit designs. The final designs were selected at an Art Selection Event, where sponsors viewed all the submissions and chose the one they wanted for their sculpture. Sometimes, artists and sponsors collaborate to fine-tune a design so it's a real creative partnership. With so much talent, it’s never an easy choice!
There will be 51 of our Big Five, made up of lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffes and gorillas. There will also be 64 smaller giraffe sculptures, the Mini Gs, designed by schools and community groups as part of the GoGoSafari Learning & Community Programme.
All of our Big Five will be decorated by artists. Expect everything from beautiful landscapes to graffiti, mosaic to pop art and everything in between.
The smaller Mini Gs will be decorated by a school or community group.
Wild in Art sculptures are designed as a canvas for art and are made of lightweight, fire-resistant fibreglass
There’s a variety of reasons why a location is chosen. We think about how well people will be able to access the site, whether it’s well-lit and safe, how your photos will look as well as finding areas of the city and county you might not ordinarily visit.
Yes! We’re always looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to help bring our vibrant sculpture trail to life. There's lots of roles available, and we can work around your availablity. Being a volunteer is a fantastic way of seeing the trail and you’ll play a key role in making sure the trail is a hit with trailgoers, while also supporting a fantastic cause! Find out more here.
Trails of this size require a lot planning, funding and logistical organisation that command a long lead in time. As we are a regional charity we also deliver sculpture trails in other areas such as Cambridge, and we are also mindful of other large events that may be taking place across the region.
The trail is only made possible by a fantastic community of businesses, schools and community groups who have come together to partner and sponsor the trail.
Not only will this roarsome tribe make the trail a reality, they’ll also support the work of Break as we continue our lifelong offer to young people from care, so they know that they’ve got their own tribe who will always be walking alongside them.
Being ambitious to achieve carbon targets is a topic of huge importance to Break, the people we support and the community of individuals and business who will take part in this sculpture trail.
We’ll be doing all we can to make this trail as environmentally friendly as possible:
- We will be conscious about the materials we are printing and use a regional printer who are carbon balanced
- We are re-using plinths from previous trails
- We will consider what materials we can reuse and recycle from our previous sculpture trails
- We expect, and will encourage designs to be submitted that address the environment to further raise this important topic during the trail
- We’ll be encouraging trailgoers to use their pedals, feet or public transport to get them to and around the trail next year
- Please see other ways Wild in Art are mitigating their environmental impact Mitigating our environmental impact | Wild in Art
After the trail ends, there’s a special chance to see all the sculptures together one last time at Banham Zoo and Africa Alive between 11-21 September. Full details will be available soon.
Following that, many of the sculptures will go to auction, with all proceeds supporting Break’s work with young people in care and leaving care.
If you’re interested in giving a sculpture a forever home, you can register your interest at here.

All sculptures have now been sponsored. However if you are interested in being involved with Break or future trails you can contact fundraising@break-charity.org or see how you could be involved as a corporate partner.
The Learning & Community Programme which invites schools and community groups to decorate their very own smaller sculpture, which this year is a giraffe, or Mini G, is now closed.
This year 64 schools and community groups have been involved and have decorated their very own Mini Gs. These will form their own urban safari in venues across the city centre.
If you think your school or group would like to be involved in the next trail, please email fundraising@break-charity.org.

County Five sculptures
The County Five is five sculptures set out across North Norfolk and designed as an exciting day trip adventure that takes you through some of the region’s most beautiful landscapes and historic towns.
The sculptures can be found at:
- Whitwell and Reepham Station
- Reepham Market Town
- Jarrolds Farm Shop, Letheringsett
- Holkham Hall
- The Green, Hunstanton
All the venues are free to access. However for Holkham Hall there is a parking charge of £6, alternatively free parking is available at the Holkham Village car park, which is about a 20–30 minute walk to the estate.
Public transport from Norwich may reach parts of the route, but schedules and connections can vary. We recommend checking local train and bus services - particularly Greater Anglia and Norfolk bus routes - for current timetables and planning your outward and return journeys.
It’s designed as a full-day trip, so plan for a full day of exploration and fun, and ending with a stunning sunset and fish and chips by the sea at Hunstanton.
Each of the sculoture sites are fully accessibile, but we do recommend checking with each venue before you visit.
At Holkham Hall, parking is £6 per car and they offer dedicated accessible tarmacked parking bays nearer the Hall.
If you require closer access, one of the parking attendants will help you, or you can arrange to be dropped off at the Hall and then park in the accessible area.
For the most up-to-date accessibility information, visit Holkham Hall’s access guide before your trip.
Holkham Hall is a privately owned estate. Like many historic venues, they require a modest admission or car parking charge to help maintain the grounds and ensure they can remain open to the public year-round. This supports the preservation of this important local heritage site and its surrounding landscape.
No. The GoGoSafari sculpture at Holkham is located in the Stables Courtyard. You do not need to pay an entrance fee to the Hall or grounds to see it.
Yes. If you’d like to park for free, you can use the Holkham Village car park, for up to 2 hours. It’s a 20–30 minute walk to the Stables Courtyard where the sculpture is located.
That’s completely fine! GoGoSafari is a free, accessible art trail across Norfolk and Norwich. Many of the 51 sculptures are located in free public spaces. Check trail map to see which sculptures require paid-entry or have restricted viewing time and plan your visit accordingly.
With another 114 sculptures, there’s plenty to discover, and if this stop doesn’t work for you, trailgoers can still get their Finishers Stamp at Safari HQ without visiting Holkham Hall.
