Our Emotional Wellbeing Service offers targeted emotional wellbeing support to care leavers across Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

For our young people to be able to begin to heal from the trauma they have experienced, they need to be able to feel safe and stable in the relationships they build with themselves and others.
What we do. Experienced Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners will provide weekly direct therapeutic sessions in a venue that is safe and local to the young person.
All interventions will be mutually agreed at the outset between the young person, the referrer and the practitioner. Reviews will be conducted at the midpoint and end of the planned series of sessions, and all work will be evaluated. This will ensure that sessions are meeting the identified need, and that appropriate onward referrals and links have been identified. 12 sessions are offered as a minimum and longer interventions can be provided if there is an identified need.
Our approach
We work from a relationship-based perspective, with many years of experience in supporting children and young people who have been impacted by adverse childhood experiences. All our interventions will be tailored to meet the unique needs and preferences of the young person. We recognise the value of offering a safe space within which to process past experiences, and the potential to strengthen the ability to form positive relationships going forward.
We believe every child and young person needs a home where they feel safe and loved, so they can grow in confidence and look to the future with hope. That’s why we work tirelessly to help young people in care, children with disabilities, and families who need support, finding a way through difficult times and opening the door to brighter tomorrows.
“It’s good to know the impact of trauma on the body and brain development, and also how it feels for us to work in relationship with young people to help them heal”

Our in-house therapeutic team ensures that the wellbeing of both our staff and young people is at the forefront of everything we do, providing a team around the team.
Underpinned by an understanding of developmental trauma and attachment theory, Break Therapeutic Services makes sure our teams are well-equipped both practically and emotionally, to provide attuned, sensitive, and trauma-informed care for our young people.
These include:
- Training and CPD
- Regular team and individual reflective sessions
- One-to-one support for managers
- Collaborative care planning that shares risk
Not only does this mean that our staff feel more resilient and confident supporting our young people to heal, but it also means that our young people are able to form consistent and stable relationships.
“It’s helped me to realize that what I do matters, just being present makes a difference and that I can be more forgiving on myself.”
