For many growing up in care, having a roof over their head may offer some stability but what can truly make a difference is having someone they can trust - someone to guide them through life’s ups and downs, to listen to them, to believe in them.
That’s why our volunteer mentors mean so much. Our mentoring programme pairs young people with trusted adults who guide them through life’s challenges, share experiences, build confidence, and create lasting friendships. These relationships often last for years, offering the kind of consistency and trust that’s rare in the lives of young people in care.
Maren, who leads our mentoring programme, shared:
"Our mentoring programme is making a real difference. Almost every young person told us they feel more confident and better able to handle life’s ups and downs. Two-thirds said their anxiety has eased, and every single mentee said they feel happier. It’s not just about giving advice - it’s about opening doors to experiences, friendships, and confidence that can truly transform a young person’s life. This Christmas, we hope supporters will help us make sure every young person in our care has someone they can trust and rely on.”
Your donation will also fund opportunities for mentors and mentees to spend meaningful time together, take part in activities, and build positive, lasting connections.
A roof is just the beginning.
