A quacking day out at Break's Grand Norwich Duck Race

20 May 2026

On Sunday, hundreds of families, supporters and local businesses gathered along the River Wensum for Break’s Grand Norwich Duck Race.

Despite a few moments of rain, the atmosphere remained high as crowds cheered on their favourite ducks and enjoyed a brilliant day out in the heart of Norwich. With creative entries and exciting races on the water, the event brought together our community in support of children and young people in, around and leaving care – raising an incredible total of £12,000.

Taking the top spot in the Duckorated Derby was UPtician, created by Coleman Opticians and artist Sally Adams, followed by the Beefeater Duck from Voyage Care and Mandii Pope, and in third place the LP Birthday Duck from Leathes Prior Solicitors, also designed by Sally Adams.

Hayley Malone, Break’s Fundraising Events Manager, said:

“Thank you to everyone who was part of the Grand Norwich Duck Race 2026 – together you helped raise over £12,000 to support children and young people who need us. Even the rain didn’t stop it being a great day. A huge congratulations to our winners and runners-up and thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success.”

We’re incredibly grateful to all those who helped make the day possible. From our fantastic hosts at the Ribs of Beef, to the businesses who decorated ducks and got involved with such enthusiasm, to our event partners Coleman Opticians, Voyage Care, PIB Group, PFG Mortgages and Rosa’s Thai – thank you for making a splash in support of Break’s young people.

A special thank you also goes to Go Paddle for keeping everything flowing on the water, Ruby Flames Entertainment for keeping the crowd smiling, and Joe Randlesome for his fantastic commentary throughout the day. We’re incredibly grateful to our volunteers, artists, supporters and Break colleagues who gave up their time to help make the event such a success.
