Cows about Cambridge: Promoting a summer of health and wellbeing across the city

24 Aug 2021

In the eight weeks since the trail began, more than 17,629,187 steps or 7,930 miles have been recorded by the Cows about Cambridge app pedometer. That’s the equivalent of walking from Cambridge UK to Cambridge USA and back again – and then some!

Weekend Wellbeing

"This is the first time I’d say we’ve properly been out of the house since the start of the pandemic, and we’ve really enjoyed our adventure,” said Kim Holding. “My kids and I have been into Cambridge two weekends running - a total of three days, about 5-7 hours of walking each day - and today we saw the final mini moos and large Cows. We celebrated with an ice cream because a dairy-related treat seemed appropriate! Thank you for organising this absolutely moo-vellous art trail!"

Distraction Doodling

Cambridge Assessment gave out free colouring books this week to celebrate their sponsored Cow, Moodle Yoodle. Artist Tori Woolley (pictured) illustrated both the sculpture and the colouring books using moovellous doodles as a form of relaxation and distraction from the pressures of life.

Helping Hands

Strength in Numbers, sponsored by Thameslink, was inspired by the artist's sister who works within the mental health sector in Cambridgeshire. The unique design, which features people linking hands, encourages people to reach out to those around them and demonstrates the mental resilience and support each individual brings when linked together.
