Break's charity shops reopen their doors

12 Apr 2021

From Monday 12th April, all 45 of Break's charity shops reopen their doors after the latest coronavirus restrictions are lifted. We are so excited to be welcoming back our customers after such a long closure, and we have been busy preparing our shops for spring and summer.

In order to protect and reassure our staff, volunteers and customers, we will continue to comply with social distancing guidelines as they evolve. Please see details below:

    • Most of our shops will be able to receive donations throughout opening hours, but as we are expecting to receive a lot of generous support, we may have to introduce specific donation times as our storage space is limited. If you have lots of items to give, please call the shop ahead of your visit to check the current arrangements and avoid disappointment. You can find the contact details for each shop here.
    • Please ensure your donations are bagged up to allow us to quarantine new items for 24 hours.
    • The shop may be closed for one hour at 12:30pm each day to allow our staff to clean and sanitise.
    • We have reduced the number of visitors allowed in the shop at one time, so you may be asked to wait for somebody to leave before entering. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
    • Face masks that cover the nose and mouth must be worn inside our shops, except by those who are exempt. We would also encourage visitors to use the available hand sanitiser upon entry. PPE is available for our staff and volunteers.
    • Visitors are asked to keep at least 1 metre away from others. We have cleared some stock to make more space, and there are floor guides to help with social distancing.
    • We have installed Perspex screen partitions at the till, and customers are encouraged to use a contactless payment method.
    • The fitting room will now be available for customers to use. (hooray!)

For Gift Aid donors it would help us tremendously if you could label your donation bags with your Gift Aid identification number and postcode before you bring them to us. This will help us to receive your donation more quickly, and limit physical contact as much as possible.

Thank you for your support during these strange times. If you have any questions about our Retail operations please e-mail
