GoGoDiscover 2022 Auction

Join us, with your paddles at the ready, to take home your very own GoGoDiscover sculpture.

After 10 weeks of entertaining more than half a million people across Norfolk and Norwich, many of the T.rex and Steppe Mammoth sculptures are looking for new homes.

Whether you’re placing your bid from the comfort of your home via our online auction site, or holding a paddle up high at Norwich Cathedral in person on the night, you’ll not only capture a spectacular sculpture for your home, garden or business, but will also help to stamp out the mammoth expectations of young adults as they leave care.

The hammer will fall for 39 T.rex and 17 Steppe Mammoth sculptures on the evening. All 58 have a story tell with artists across the UK making their creative mark on the design, the whole trail made possible by the generous sponsorship of local businesses.

The auction will be hosted by acclaimed auctioneer Charles Hanson and Natasha Raskin Sharp. You’ll recognise both from TV shows Bargain Hunt, Flog it! and Antiques Road Trip.

For those attending the auction in person, you can expect a wonderful evening, with a sparkling reception and canapés.

Are all the sculptures for sale?

In total there are 59 lots in the auction. You can see all lots by visiting https://ggd.wildinartauctions.com/.

Can I view lots before bidding on them?

A limited number of sculptures will be present at the event on the evening, we’d encourage you to visit the sculpture while it is on the trail, details of where to find sculptures are available either via the GoGoDiscover app or by picking up or downloading a trail map.

There will be a preview event for anyone wishing to place bids on the sculptures. Please email eleanor.edge@break-charity.org to register your interest for this preview event.

How will I get them home?

As the buyer, you will be responsible for organising delivery or collection of the sculptures within 7 days of the auction. However, we are happy to assist where necessary. If you’d like to request delivery, we will arrange this through our partners RUSH Removals. We will raise an invoice for their fee the day following the auction and ask that this is paid before the delivery takes place. Please email peter.marron@break-charity.org if you have any further questions about how to get your sculpture home.

How much will it cost to ship the sculpture?

We are happy to provide shipping estimates before the auction and if you would like this information you should email peter.marron@break-charity.org including the Lot number and shipping dress by Friday 23 September. This will be an estimate, costs would be subject to increase or decrease depending on circumstances.

There will be some concrete bases and wooden bases available to buy. The main fee will be a delivery cost which we can provide a quote nearer to auction date as required.

Will there be an estimate guide price?

No, but from previous trails we know that the sculpture price can range from £3k – £22K with an average price being approximately £7k.

How do you take payments for the sculptures?

Unless agreed in writing with you by Break, you must pay for the sculpture either on the evening you register your winning bid, or within five days of the invoice being issued to you. Payment must be in pounds sterling and may be made by electronic transfer, debit card, credit card, bankers draft or cash (up to a maximum of £5,000).

Also are they suitable to be left out over winter months or need protecting?

Our sculptures which are currently displayed in internal locations generally are more suited to indoor use, however the other sculptures have been treated with varnish to protect them from the elements. Over time they will need to re-done and we can recommend a suitable supplier.
