We are walking 50 miles for Break

Break is celebrating 50 years of changing young lives in 2018.  To mark this we are asking our staff and supporters to take the MyBreak50 challenge.  All we ask is that the challenge includes a reference to 50 and that it supports Break.

Here are some ideas for a MyBreak50 challenge:

  • Walk 50 miles
  • Bake and sell 50 cakes
  • Be silent for 50 minutes
  • Donate 50 items to our charity shops
  • Volunteer with us for 50 hours
  • Bike to work for 50 days
  • Host 50 dress down days

We invite you to be creative with your  MyBreak50 challenge, if you have an idea, please talk to us.

Where your money will go.

To celebrate our 50th Anniversary, we aim to raise £50,000 to set up a new Building Futures fund to invest in our young people, our community and our future.  The fund will support:

Our Young People

This part of the fund will help support the aspirations of the children and young people we work with.  This could be support with entry into employment through apprenticeship or further education, help with driving lessons or to nurture talent and independence

Our Communities

This part of the fund will support children, young people and the communities they live in.  This could be projects like a ‘support when you need it’ drop-in service, a community fund to help vulnerable young people and families set up a home or making all our Break shops dementia friendly.

Our Future

This will be a fund to kick start a commercial enterprise which will invest in and provide sustainable funding for our children, young people and families and their communities.
