Quacking Good Fun - Auction next!

Quacking good fun at the Grand Norwich Duck Race 2016

Quacking good fun at the Grand Norwich Duck Race 2016 organised by Break with support from The Ribs of Beef, Norfolk Paddle Company and The Broads Authority in the company of Lord Mayor Marion Maxwell.

Duck Gand

The sun shone and people came out in their thousands to watch first the small ducks and then the larger decorated ones make their way sedately down the River Wensum from St. George's Bridge to Fye Bridge.

Save for a few mishaps along the way, all the large ducks finished with Queen Bouducka claiming the crown from Duck QuackEnroe, the winner for the past two years.

Queen Bouducka was the very first duck designed and decorated by Sally Adams who designed 17 of the 121 ducks and is sponsored by Iceni Magazine and Jill Watkinson.  Second place went to the Pokemon inspired Pika-Duck created by Break's very own Fundraising Administrator, Jeni Lawes for Osiris Technologies.  In third place was H8chi designed by Sarah Daniels and sponsored by No 8 Thorpe Road.

A massive thank you to all the volunteers who came to help.  What would we do without you.

Special thanks to Mark Ivan Benfield for taking some amazing photographs for us.  If you took any photos, we would love to see them. You can tweet us @breakwriter, or post to Facebook and instagram - Break Charity.

After a jolly good clean up and a few minor repairs, the ducks will next appear at the Auction at the Maid's Head Hotel on Thursday 8 September.  Viewing is from 5pm with the Auction starting at 6pm sharp in the capable hands of The Orctioneer @Quirkative. Please register for a free ticket to help us with numbers - more info here.  There is also an event page set up on Facebook where you can also join in the fun - Grand Norwich Duck Race - Auction
