Quacking Auction raises over £6.5k

Grand Norwich Duck Race Auction raises over £6.5k for Break

The Grand Norwich Duck race has just celebrated its sixth year racing ducks (a loose term) on the River Wensum in Norwich.

It started when the Ribs of Beef pub in Norwich, member of Norwich Inns, wanted to do something different for the chosen charity for the year, Break, and the rest is history!

Roger and Anthea Cawdron, owners of the Ribs wanted to do the race the next year and we are still racing on the River Wensum every year, thanks to them, and it has become the fun, family event it is today.

The auction at the Maids Head Hotel saw 78 rubber decorated ducks go under the hammer, thanks to auctioneer Elliot Symonds @Quirkative whose charm, wit and endless humour resulted in over £6,5k raised.

Huge thanks to everyone who supported this event - the sponsors, the awesome volunteers, the bidders and the Break team who made it all happen. Also Norfolk Paddle who always steer the ducks in the right direction!

The duck that raised the most money was Winter is Quacking created by Jeni Lawes, our Fundraising Administrator it went for £350. The winner of the race Black Swan was snapped up for £310.

Looking forward to next year Sunday 26 August same time same place!
