New Family support service for Break
Norfolk and Norwich Families’ House joins Break
From 1 October 2012, Norwich based charity Families’ House will be joining Break. The move comes as Break consolidates and develops the services it provides for children, young people and families.
Families' House supports families in Norwich and Norfolk with a wide range of difficulties. In particular the charity supports families who are "parenting apart" - where parents live separately. It offers a variety of services that include contact services for separated parents and therapeutic support for their children; one to one support for families; parent support groups; a weekly drop-in for Norfolk parents; support for 16 and 17 year olds at risk of becoming homeless and school holiday activities for all the family.
The families the charity supports will see very little difference, as Families’ House will continue to operate from its Ber Street offices. Contact numbers will remain the same and information on services will be on both the Break and Families’ House websites.
Speaking on this new development for Break, CEO Chris Hoddy said: "We are delighted with the opportunity for Families’ House to become part of Break. We are now focussing all our energies on providing services for children, young people and families throughout Norfolk and East Anglia. Families’ House is a highly regarded charity and we are sure that we will be able to build on their existing good work and expand it further. It fits very well with Break’s intention to increase our involvement in family support as well as assessment".
Families’ House Director, Suzanne Bryant said, "This is an exciting opportunity for Families’ House and we are looking forward to working with Break to develop our services for vulnerable families across the county".
David Wright, Chairman, says, "The Families’ House Board is delighted that Break has agreed to take over the services provided by Families’ House. Break is an excellent and well run organisation that we believe will not only protect the work that we have been doing but enhance it".
