Charity calendar for Break features barefaced chicks
A brave band of Norfolk women have bared all in a Calendar Girls style calendar for the charity Break.
The #NorRaceChicks, who originally got together via Twitter to run for charity in 2011, will be in their birthday suits for a 2013 calendar. The calendar will support one of the group, Anne Joyce, in raising more than £3,000 for a barefoot London Marathon attempt next April.
The race chicks will be pictured in a variety of, occasionally humorous, scenarios involving footwear choices and famous quotes about them, whilst not wearing much else.
The calendar shoot took place at the Imagine Spa in Blofield Heath and has been supported by local businesses such as Norse, ATT Ltd, BigFork Digital Marketing, Edmundsons Electrical, Key AV, Naked Marketing, Norfolk Brides, Norwich Bear Brewing Co, The RedCat Partnership, The Zap Experience, UandYourSkin and Wedgewood House. Four local photographers, Shelley Burrows, Paul Macro, Stephen Mole and Tatum Reid, took the photographs.
The calendar will be launched at the Kett’s Tavern on Tuesday 20 November from 6pm. The women who feature in the calendar will be there with the sponsors and Break charity. All are welcome for drinks and nibbles and to be the first to purchase their calendars, which will cost £6 if purchased before the launch, £8 after that.
Calendars will be available from the following stockists after the 20 November:
* The Kett’s Tavern, Kett’s Hill, Norwich
* The Rose, Queens Road, Norwich
* The Window Coffee, Wensum Street, Norwich
* Picturebox, Norwich Market
* Imagine Spa, Blofield Heath
* Disney’s Deli, Middleton Street, Wymondham
* Diva of Wymondham
Calendars can also be bought online from www.barefacedchicks.co.uk after this date.
The intrepid women featuring in the calendar range in age from their 20s to their 40s: Amy Vincent, Andrée Byron, Annie Joyce, Dalia Blake, Dawn Hopkins, Elaine Vincent, Emily Barclay, Jennifer Nicholls, Kerry Davis, Megan Stephenson, Sarah Daniels, Sarah Gray.
Having never run before May 2011, Annie Joyce began training with the #NorRaceChicks wearing ‘minimalist’ running shoes (earning the nickname ‘Princess Tippitoes’ as a result). Following her first half marathon in April 2012, in aid of Break, Annie has decided to try and go completely barefoot for the London Marathon in April 2013 as a way of raising more money for Break, a charity that she has raised money for since 2007.
