FAQs about Holidays at Rainbow
How do I pay for my holiday if I cannot afford it?
If you have a social worker, contact them regarding respite or short break funding.
If you do not have a social worker, either speak to your GP about the referral process or contact your local social services department.
For placements particularly for children, contact

For organisations in your area, contact the Charity Commission www.charitycommission.gov.uk, your local Citizen's Advice Bureau or your local Council for Voluntary Service, www.navca.org.uk
Can I take my own carer with me?
Depending on availability of rooms, a carer can accompany you as long as we receive a copy of their CRB disclosure and notification of how much care will be provided for you. This will be at an extra cost of £160 per week
Is transport provided to get me to the holiday centre?
Guests need to find their own transport to and from the centre, but guests can be met from Sheringham railway and bus stations by prior arrangement.
Can my family visit me during my holiday?
Yes, by prior arrangement with the staff at the centre.
Do I need holiday insurance?
We do advise that you take out holiday insurance.
What happens if I have to cancel my holiday?
If you have provisionally booked your holiday you will not be charged. If however your application has been processed and you have signed your consent form, the holiday is now classed as confirmed and the following cancellation fees will apply. More than six weeks before the holiday, 10% of the holiday cost. Between two and six weeks before the holiday, 50% of the holiday cost. Less than two weeks before the holiday, 100% of the holiday cost. In exceptional circumstances, this can be reviewed.
How do I know that your staff have the experience to cater for my needs?
The Rainbow Centre manager assesses each application form and checks that we have the appropriately trained and experienced staff to look after you. It is very rare that we cannot accommodate a guest.
How much spending money should I take on my holiday?
This is left to the guest/parent/carer discretion, but we advise approximately £30 for extra outings and presents.
What happens if I am taken ill?
Depending on the severity of the illness, our local nurse or GP are contacted. In extreme circumstances an ambulance will be called and you will be accompanied by a member of staff to the nearest hospital and your family/carer informed.
What happens if I want to go home during my holiday?
If this happens your family/carer will be contacted to arrange for you to be collected at the earliest opportunity.
What should I bring with me?
You can bring your favourite toys, CD's, DVD's etc all clearly marked with your name. The centre will not be responsible for any items damaged or lost during your stay. We will also send you a clothing list for completion for when you pack for your holiday. All clothes should be named as they will be laundered as required.
Will my special diet be catered for?
Yes. Please let us know in advance of any particular foods you would like so that we can make sure that these are available during your stay.
